The power of controlling my files locally

The moment I started understanding how powerful it is to have your files on your computer, have control over your files, I could never look back anymore.

So nowadays when I look at a note-taking app, it has to allow me to, that's number one, it has to allow me to keep my files locally in a format that I can open in other apps.

Otherwise, I'm not even trying it.
